Thank you Gary Bettman. Your unending quest to alienate real hockey fans and embrace the television networks and NASCAR audience has done wonders for the sport. Now you’re encouraging referees to make “Make Up” calls, even though these calls may have little basis in fact. Your latest achievement is the phantom goalie interference call on Tomas Holmstrom in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. To have the referee call that one off because his “butt was in the crease” is ridiculous. Look at the replays. To have the league commissioner second the call as a good one is a good example of why you need to retire. Go away, Gary.
The Stars played a much better game, obviously, and it is exciting to see some life brought back into the playoffs. Up until last night’s game, I kept asking myself, it’s not really this easy is it? We’ll see on Saturday.
