I don’t know what I like better about games like this, the sheer competition of close periods like the second, or the way a great Wings team turns up the heat towards the end, putting the finishing touches on what is very possibly the Stars penultimate game in Dallas this year.
Periods one and two showed the best Stars team we’ve seen this year. If it hadn’t been for a couple of very close missed chances the Stars had early in the first, we could have very likely walked out of this game with our heads hanging.
I know that there has been a lot of attention placed on Franzen, and his contribution to the team has been great. But for me the story for this year has been the emergence of Datsyuk and Zetterberg as leaders of this team in actions on and off the ice. Was anyone else surpirsed that this was Pavel’s first career hat trick?
