Why am I surprised at this? You would have to think that Bettman would find a way to make the Winter Classic an opportunity to stick it to fans of hockey.
From MLive.com:
The Chicago Daily Herald’s Tim Sassone reports something that’s a bit disturbing to fans of both the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks who aren’t season ticket-holders. The NHL is going to be handling the distribution of tickets for the Winter Classic II at Wrigley Field.
Given Gary Bettman’s track record, that means that season ticket-holders of the Hawks, MLB’s Chicago Cubs, and then Red Wings (in that order) will be very well-taken care of, as will the league’s sponsors…and civilians will have to scramble for a few ducats at a premium price. Chicago Blackhawks president John McDonough made his pitch for fans to pick up a season ticket package to ensure that they’ll have access to the tilt.
