Last night’s game really, almost, did feel like the old days, didn’t it? Sure, Roy is gone, Yzerman wears a suit and most of the players on the ice were only hoping that they could someday grow a playoff beard/goatee back in 1997, but there was something special about the game, even with all the hype. Maybe the hype-masters were right on this one.
And it was a good hockey game too. The Avs are a dangerous team and we saw what can happen if they get behind your defense. If they get healthy, this could be a long series. And it almost shaped up to be a long time until Saturday’s game two until Ozzie decided to stand on his head, making some great saves in the third, particularly the one he made with 8 seconds remaining on ex-MSU Spartan John-Michael Liles.
